Winner of: Creative Business Food Challenge
HotClick is a food container that heats the food in 15 minutes autonomously by means of reusable heater gel. This project aims to improve working conditions at lunchtime for people who work outdoors in our communities such as among others street sweepers, postmen, and trash collectors. Actually, they spend one-fifth of their salary every month on buying food and half of their lunch break on looking for a place to heat their food, have their food cold or just do not eat lunch. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), 40% of Chilean population such as workers, teachers, businessmen, among others, have lunch outside their homes. Here, a cross-subvention between markets was ideated. Profits obtained from HotClick sales to this big market could finance part of the product for the Chilean street workers.
HotClick is unique for two reasons. The product has an added value compared to alternative products because traditional food containers only maintain the food temperature. HotClick heats the food autonomously in a sustainable way and is reusable. Furthermore, the business model is based on a cross-subsidization, where the profits from HotClick sales in the big market will be used to subsidies products for street workers.
